The 44th annual Cowan Christmas Parade will be held Saturday,
Dec. 6, 2008 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Cookie’s Corner and
proceeding down Cumberland Street through the downtown area
to end at Cowan Elementary School.
“Mark your calendars to come and share
in the fun and excitement of the annual
Christmas parade in beautiful Cowan," said
Ashley Nelson, parade chair. "That Saturday morning --
with its multi-talented marching bands, colorful floats, and
for the first time in over 5 years the Shriner’s Tin Lizzie
Unit – will mark the official start of the Cowan holiday season." The
deadline for submitting parade entry forms is Wednesday November
26 at 12:00 noon. For 44 years, Franklin Countians and
visitors from surrounding areas have enjoyed and supported
the parade with attendance as high as 5000 people.
Sponsors are still needed for this year’s parade. For more
information or to obtain a parade entry form, call 967-7318
or visit the official parade website at www.cowanparade.org to
learn more about how your company, civic organization or non-profit
group can participate.

Again this year, the Christmas Parade Committee will be offering a unique Christmas
Tee-Shirt. This year’s shirt features the art of Jennifer Redstreake of the Redstreake
Gallery here in Cowan, and is presented as both a wonderful souvenir of the celebration
and as a fundraiser to help pay for the cost of the parade. This beautiful shirt
will be available for sale for $15 at the City Hall on parade day from 10:30
to 12:30 and then during regular City Hall office hours until all the shirts
are sold. |
