Cowan residents - light contest :

The Cowan Christmas Parade Committee has begun planning for the 43rd Annual Cowan Christmas Parade and other events to take place on Friday November 30 and on the morning of the parade.  The parade theme for 2007 is 200 Years of Franklin County Christmas’ and we want this to be our biggest and best parade ever.

To further beautify and showcase our community, we are sponsoring a Christmas lighting contest in Cowan. We will be judging lights in three categories:  Commercial, Cumberland Street residences, and off Cumberland Street residences.  Cash prizes to be determined at a later date will be awarded in each of the three categories.  Judging will be done on Friday night while “Twas the Night Before” activities are being held.  In addition, maps will be available to direct visitors around town for viewing of contest entries.

We would like to encourage you to participate in this lighting contest.   Let’s light up Cowan as it has never been lit before.  Our aim is to be a beacon to draw hundreds of visitors to our community to shop, to dine, to visit the Railroad Museum and the Welcome Center, and to see what a beautiful little city we live in.
